Kitui West MP, Francis Nyenze, died today while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
Nyenze died on Wednesday morning after battling with colon cancer since 2008.
Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua, in his condolence message said Nyenze told him that he was fed up with sycophancy perpetuated in the Ukambani region and that he supported his
politics of development.
“I am saddened by the passing of Hon. Nyenze – a good man, a friend and a voice of reason.”
“He was a smart & diplomatic leader who cared about his people.”
“He told me he was fed up with sycophancy perpetuated in our region and supported my politics of development.”
“I will miss him,” Mutua said on Wednesday.
Nyenze was appointed Minister for Environment by President Moi in 1997 and later taken to the Ministry of Heritage and Sports after the reshuffle in 2001.
He was first elected in 1997.
Nyenze was first elected on a KANU ticket in 1997 to represent Kitui West Constituency.
