Schools have been put under surveillance to ensure that they remain free of drugs and alcohol.

County Commissioner John Elungata said the county security committee had ordered police to patrol areas near schools in a strategy to ensure that sanity prevailed and harmful substances did not make it into the institutions.

He added that regular raids were being carried out on known drinking dens.
