A senior Jubilee Party official has said Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, should resign to avert bloodshed during the October 26th repeat elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, the official, who is based at Jubilee Party headquarters in Nairobi, said Chebukati should resign or go to the Supreme Court to seek further directions on postponing the October 26th repeat elections.
The official said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, walked into a political abyss the day Raila went to the Supreme Court under the leadership of Chief Justice, David Maraga.
“There’s no way to get out of that now.”
“I painfully can say even if there will be an election on the 26th, Maraga will be waiting for us at the Supreme Court grinning ear to ear like a Cheshire cat to nullify it”
“This is because the IEBC chair himself has said he cannot deliver a credible election and then on 1st November, NASA will be back to Supreme Court to nullify Uhuru’s presidency, then the coup is complete,” the official said.
“Let Uhuru sign that bill today and we start preparing for January polls.”
“We have been cynically outwitted here, because we were too trusting,” the official added.
