The swearing in ceremony of NASA leader Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka which has been much awaited and anticipated for will no longer happen as scheduled. The coalition won’t be able to swear in Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as President and deputy president of the Republic of Kenya respectively on Tuesday 12th. In barely less than 48 hours to the big day, the coalition has changed plans citing a consensus was reached by the parties involved.

“Following extensive internal consultations and engagements with a wide range of national and international intellectuals, the NASA coalition leadership wishes to advice the NASA fraternity and the general public of the swearing in ceremony of the Rt. Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga and his Excellency Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as President and deputy deputy president of the Republic of Kenya and the launch of the People’s Assembly scheduled for Tuesday 12th December have been postponed…”, the NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi announced.

This was a bombshell that fell on the coalition’s supporters and bigwigs since it was a day that was eagerly awaited to witness the turn of events as Raila takes oath of office parallel to the Jamhuri day celebrations presided over by His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, in his address the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s assured the supporters that the move won’t change their result to ensure that Raila and Kalonzo are sworn in. “…we remain full in course in pursuit of electoral justice, our resistance of the dictatorship and irreversible, we remind the NASA fraternity to maintain our civic and economic resistance…” He said.

Despite the fact that the move was expected, there has been an atmosphere of uncertainty following the biling pressure from the national and international community and religious leadership to stop their plans to swear in Raila on grounds that it will be unconstitutional. Nonetheless, the NASA leadership apologized for disappointing Kenyans and assured them that nothing had changed. Now it remains to the coalition’s legislators to announce a later date for the same incase there’s any ceremony to occur.
