Apparently the event led to the Communication Authority Officials to shut down Citizen TV, KTN and NTV in all platforms. The officials have also switched off the ADNL transmission. Additionally a number of radio stations went off air. Earlier Tuesday morning the stations were broadcasting live the NASA Event at the Uhuru Park Grounds.
Consequently early in the day, the security personnel was withdrawn from the venue saying the decision was reached at to prevent any bloody showdown as a result of confrontation between NASA supporters and the police who had already started to arrive. However, the State had termed the swearing-in event unconstitutional and vowed to do what it takes to ensure it does not happen where extra security officers had been called in from counties neighbouring the city to increase the guard.
The event which the NASA co-principals missed went ahead as planned where the Ruaraka MP took charge assisted by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Miguna Miguna. On the same note, the Wiper Party leader was expected to take oath alongside Raila Odinga since the presidency is a joint business of the president and his deputy. However, Raila who spoke shortly after swearing, defended Kalonzo saying that will be ‘sworn-in’ at a later date adding that the event marks the end of electoral injustice in Kenya,
Similarly, the other NASA principals Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi who were also missing as Raila in ceremony have as well been pushing for the swearing in of the NASA leader, with the aim of achieving electoral justice. The opposition had rejected to recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as president of Kenya after he was declared winner of the October 26 repeat election.
Kajwang was taken the DCI headquarters.
