Raila did good to save us anarchy of street protests – Lesuuda

Samburu West MP-elect Naisula Lesuuda has hailed Raila Odinga following his move to contest the presidential election results in court.

She on Thursday said it was pleasing for the National Super Alliance leader to show Kenyans that he respects the rule of law.

“We thank Raila, his team and supporters for respecting the rule of law. They have saved us the anarchy we face should they have opted for street protests.”

Lesuuda was joined by youths who said it was a show of political maturity for Raila to choose the courts against calling for demonstrations.

The ODM leader on Wednesday said he will challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win at the Supreme Court.

“He raised sensible allegations that should be looked into by the judiciary,” the youths said.

Moses Lemois of Samburu Central said Jubilee’s victory at the courts is not guaranteed this time round.

He said this followed the protests that greeted the poll results and the views shaped by attacks AfriCOG and Kenya Human Rights Commission.

“The international community may become suspicious and dig deep into Raila’s claims that the votes were not tallied but generated through a computer,” Lemois said.

However, a section of youth are of the opinion that the judiciary will give Uhuru a “second victory”.

Loise Mukumbu from Samburu East said Raila should accept defeat and let the country move forward.

“Going to court is a waste of time. Let him pass on the mantle to the young turks,” Mukumbu said.

“This being the case across the country the courts will only grant Jubilee a second victory.”
