Police investigate deaths of two minors in Nairobi and Meru

Police are investigating the brutal murders of an eight-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy in Nairobi and Meru.

The body of the boy was found dumped in a river at Githurai at noon on Wednesday while the girl’s remains were found on the roadside at 8am, at Kirigua village, Ntakira.

Initial investigations show the girl was defiled before being killed.

The Standard Two pupil had been sent away from school because her parents had not paid Sh1,000 fee balance.

She did not reach home, according to her father who reported the matter to police.

As of the boy, police were yet to identify his parents by the time this story was published.

Scene of crime investigators said regarding the boy’s remains: “The body had a deep cut on the forehead and a swollen face. Besides the body was a black polythene paper and a bag. It is believed they were used to carry the body to the scene. It’s suspected the deceased was killed elsewhere and body dumped there.”

In Meru, police arrested a “known criminal,” — a 30-year-old man — moments after the death was reported.

He was picked out by villagers before he was arrested.

“He was arrested and a blanket with blood stains hidden outside his house recovered. His innerwear, T-shirt and vest he was wearing had blood stains,” police said.
