Oparanya slams Weta for fighting ODM candidates

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has accused NASA co-principal Moses Wetang’ula of forcing ODM candidates in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties to step down in favour of those running on Ford Kenya.

Oparanya (pictured), who is also ODM deputy party leader, said Wetang’ula wanted to undermine NASA popularity in the two regions.

The governor said in NASA, every party is free to field candidates in all posts apart from the presidential one.

He questioned why Wetang’ula wants his Ford Kenya party to be given special treatment.

Oparanya spoke yesterday in Bungoma Posta grounds when he attended the campaign launch of ODM governor candidate Alfred Khang’ati.

The governor thanked his party candidates for refusing to step down.

‘’Everyone has a democratic right to contest any elective seat on any party,’’ Oparanya said.

He asked residents to vote for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, saying he is the only saviour for Kenyans.

Oparanya said Kenyans are tired of Jubilee, and expressed optimism that NASA would win the August polls with a landslide.

‘’We have sealed all the loopholes for rigging. I am assuring you this time round we are going to win,’’ he said.

The governor praised the High Court decision that cancelled the ballot printing tender awarded to Al-Ghurair. He said it could have created room for rigging.

Khang’ati asked the electorate to elect him.
