Motorists afraid after thugs hack truck driver to death in Mai Mahiu

A motorist was on Thursday hacked to death by unknown thugs on Mai Mahiu-Narok road, raising fear among operators on the route.

John Njonge, a witness, said the man was heading to Western when he was blocked by a personal car near Karima center.

“The thugs did not manage to speed off with the vehicle. They then attacked the driver and left him for dead,” he said.

The victim was alone in the vehicle which was ferrying iron sheets.

Naivasha sub-county commissioner Isaac Masinde said other road users noticed the commotion and alerted police in Mai Mahiu.

Masinde said the driver was found in bad condition when officers responded to the alarm.

“The driver was rushed to a nearby health centre but was confirmed dead on arrival. We are investigating the incident.”

The death of the elderly driver brings to two the number killed in the area in the past three months.
