The high level meeting was called by the Jubilee leader to organize his presidential campaign team in the Mt Kenya region.
The meeting had been necessitated by constant infighting among leaders in the Mt Kenya region on how the president’s campaign would be structured.
After hours of deliberations, it was decided that the Jubilee campaigns would be led by elected leaders in the respective counties.
Governors were given the mandate of coordinating with senators and woman representatives to campaign for the president in their respective counties while MPs would work with MCAs to campaign at the constituency level.
After President Kenyatta read out the decision, the leaders were given time to regroup and submit their list of officials.
However, the resolution appeared to have rubbed Karua the wrong way as she immediately walked out of the top level meeting.
Karua lost a bitterly fought gubernatorial race in Kirinyaga to former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru who will now lead President Kenyatta’s campaign team in the county.
The NARC Kenya party leader has filed an appeal against Waiguru’s election.
