Mandago invites rival Buzeki to Monday’s inauguration

Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has invited his rival Bundotich Kiprop Buzeki to his swearing-in ceremony on Monday in Eldoret.

County secretary Peter Lelei said an invitation card had been sent to Buzeki following the governor’s instructions.

“We had no reasons to leave Buzeki out. The governor wants all residents of Uasin Gishu to attend the ceremony.”

Mandago defeated Buzeki in the polls last week and the two have agreed to work together to develop the county.

Buzeki told the Star that he is yet to receive the invitation.

At the same time, Mandago said he will account for all county assets, debts and liabilities in a report to be presented at the fete.

The report details the state of the county including account balances, number of vehicles, land and other assets.

The swearing ceremony will be presided over by Justice Ruth Sitati at the Eldoret Sports Club.
