Man charged with stealing Sh66.8m from employer

An employee with Kestrel Capital (EA)Ltd was yesterday charged in a Nairobi court with stealing over Sh 66.8 million from his employer.

Abraham Too appeared before chief magistrate Francis Andayi and denied two counts of theft. He was released on a Sh20 million bond or a cash bail of Sh3 million pending the hearing of the case on September 5.

The court heard that on diverse dates between 2013 and 2015 at Kestrel Capital EA Ltd in Nairobi, the accused jointly with others not before court, being an employee of the same company stole Sh 47,800,000 the property of Kestrel Capital, which was in his possession by virtue of his employment.

Too is also accused of handling suspected stolen money amounting to Sh8,521,675 held at Imperial Bank in his names Abraham Too.

It is said that the accused was arrested on Tuesday by Capital Markets fraud investigation unit in connection with a case brought up by Kestrel Capital.
