West Pokot governor-elect John Lonyangapuo has pledged to eradicate corruption cartels in the county.
Lonyangapuo said he will ensure that whoever has looted public funds is prosecuted.
He spoke on Wednesday after meeting the county transition committee.
“When I assume office, I will ensure county officers who have looted vehicles, office tables, Television sets, chairs and window curtains face the law,” he said.
Lonyangapuo wondered why some public county offices are behaving like thugs going to an extent of vandalizing vehicles and stealing office materials at night.
“I will pin them down until they surrender public resources, why are they looting everything that was purchased by county money, I have asked the security team to man the offices and those who have looted to be arrested,” he said.
However, Lonyangapuo pointed out that plans for the swearing in ceremony are underway.
He said Sh3.5 million has been allocated for the event to cater for 10,000 people.

He added that the committee had budgeted for Sh20 million but after scrutinizing the budget he shelved it to Sh3.5 million.
He said the balance can be channeled to settling insecurity problem along the border.
“More than 25 vehicles will be hired to transport people to the inauguration ceremony, my immediate Turkana county governor elect Josphat Nanok has been invited to graze the occasion and he has assured that he will be present,” he said.
On insecurity, Lonyangapuo noted that the governors elect from Turkana, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Laikipia, Samburu and including him are in the process of delivering a proposal to the national government concerning insecurity menace.
