KOT roast Murkomen for saying Supreme Court will confirm Uhuru beat Raila

Jubilee’s win after the August 8 election will be confirmed by the Supreme Court, re-elected Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said.

NASA said it will move to the Supreme Court to seek redress on an election whose result Opposition leader Raila Odinga has disputed, saying it was rigged.

Raila said they are giving the court a chance to redeem itself as “for the third straight election in a row, the voice of the people has been stilled”.

Via Twitter on Wednesday, Murkomen said: “Once again the win of President Uhuru [Kenyatta] and DP [William] Ruto will be confirmed by the Supreme Court. Congratulations NASA.”

But his followers on the social media platform attacked him, one with the handle [email protected]_of_dida’ saying he thought the legislator was learned.

“I am now sure you ‘rigged’ your law degree or any degree if you have any.”

[email protected]’ said “Wakili (Lawyer), in your first year of law school, you were taught one cannot anticipate the court’s ruling. One can only hope.

[email protected]’ noted re-elected Siaya Senator and lawyer James Orengo represents the National Super Alliance in legal matters and asked Murkomen if he will do so for Jubilee Party.

“Have you won even a single case in a court of law? Which one and when?”

Muriuki Muriungi wrote: “Senator, you can certainly do better than this. We shall be watching the Supreme Court keenly. On this one, there is solid evidence.”

[email protected]’ noted the politician has “been underground but now you can yell proudly”.

The user added that it seems Raila has been holding Murkomen “hostage mentally”.

Oduor Kweje told the legislator that the court is not an extension of State House, and that he is “gravely mistaken” if he thinks so.

“We say NO to Computer-generated leaders,” the user added, echoing Raila’s message in his speech on their move on Wednesday.

[email protected]_TDH’ told the Senator-elect that he is underestimating the power of the court yet he says he is a lawyer.

[email protected]’ said: “The burden of proof is with NASA. The courts are not manipulated. They are guided by tangible evidence, not hearsay or rumours.”

But other Twitter users agreed with Murkomen saying Raila should retire from politics and move on.

“Even if we repeated the presidential election, Uhuru would beat Raila pants down. Period. And Raila still would not accept [the result],” said [email protected]’.

[email protected]’ said: “Going to Supreme Court has nothing to do with Kenya. It’s all about Raila. Let’s be real.”

At least 24 people have been killed since the August elections, many of them shot by police.

But while there have been scattered protests in Raila strongholds, the demonstrations were relatively muted as supporters waited to hear what the opposition leader had to say.

When Raila called a news conference after days of public silence, crowds clustered around televisions and radios in the slums, falling silent as he began to speak.

The move to the judiciary will relieve Kenyans who feared a repeat of the violence that followed the flawed 2007 vote, when Raila called for protests which led to a police crackdown and ethnic violence. Around 1,200 people died.

European Union observers called on the IEBC to publish all remaining forms showing vote tallies on its website to ensure the transparency and accuracy of the process.

“The timing of such information being made public is critical given that petitions relating to the presidential race must be filed within seven days of the results announcement,”they said.

On Tuesday, IEBC said it had uploaded all the 290 forms 34B and 35,000 out of 40,883 form 34As to its portal.

This followed a request by NASA which has said it needed the forms for verification and clarification of the presidential results at the August 8 elections.
