Embakassi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has been released on a Ksh500, 000 bail and two sureties amounting to Ksh1million.
According to the Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi the sureties must be people of equal standing in society with Owino.
Andayi made the ruling after he found that the prosecution did not present compelling reasons to Babu Owino in police custody.
Lawyer Orengo has suggested that the two sureties should be former, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris.
Owino was charged on Tuesday with the offense of subversion.
The first term MP was arrested over derogatory utterance made against President Uhuru Kenyatta during a public rally in Dagoretti South, Nairobi.
