Joho leads Orange team in Lamu hunt for votes

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has taken the party’s campaigns to Lamu.

Mr Joho and other key ODM officials, party leaders and aspirants in Lamu will hold a rally at Kizingitini in Lamu East sub-county.

They will be meeting their supporters to solidify support for Nasa (National Super Alliance).

On Thursday, ODM leaders were in Voi in Taita-Taveta County to drum up support for ODM and Nasa.

Speaking to the Nation on Friday, Lamu County ODM coordinator Zahara Shee said after the rally at Kizingitini, all ODM leaders and aspirants in the county will have dinner at the Lamu Fort.

On Saturday, the leaders plan a road show, which will start at the Mokowe Jetty to Mpeketoni, Kibaoni, Witu, Moa and Katsaka Kairu.

The tour will culminate in a public rally at the Mkunguni Square on Lamu Island on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, the team will be heading to Tana River for similar events.

The tour in Lamu comes at a time when the Jubilee Party has eaten into Nasa’s support in the Coast following the defections of Tana River governor Hussein Dado, Taita-Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo and Woman representative Joyce Lay.

Lamu is, however, perceived as an Opposition stronghold having voted mainly for ODM in the 2013 polls.
