It’s time for me to be Nasa flag bearer, says Kalonzo Musyoka

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said that time is right for him to be the Nasa presidential flag bearer.

Mr Musyoka, who was speaking at Bomas of Kenya Monday when he met party aspirants to deliberate on how nominations will he conducted, said it is not wrong for anyone to aspire to be president within the National Super Alliance.

“My brother Raila made it very clear that anyone can be president.

“Now at my age of 63 years, why would I delay that decision any further?” asked the former vice president.

“And if you know if you put Kalonzo there Jubilee will go home. Why delay?” he asked in a remark that was meant to portray him as the best candidate.

This sentiment was supported by the aspirants and party officials who said the party is pushing to ensure he is selected as the Nasa presidential flag bearer through the committee that is midwifing the process of negotiations within the coalition.

Wiper party secretary-general Hassan Omar also said that those within Nasa who are making malicious claims against Mr Musyoka should stop.

“He cannot only be an ally when he is supporting you but he is called a traitor when he wants to be president,” said Mr Omar.

He also added that the party is in the coalition to stay.
