Garissa Jubilee governorship aspirant Ali Bunow Korane and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale have been Okayed by the IEBC to contest in the August polls.
Accompanied by hundreds of their supporters on Friday, the duo who included Mr Korane’s running mate Abdi Dagane and other Jubilee Party aspirants, walked from the party’s office to the Regional Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices to present their nominations papers.
At the commission’s offices police manning the institution had difficult time controlling the crowd who wanted to get into the offices.
Immediately Mr Korane and his running mate were cleared, they accompanied Mr Duale to the IEBC constituency offices about 1km away where he was also cleared to defend his seat.
Mr Duale will battle it out with former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Farah Maalim of Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM).
Later they address rally at Garissa primary playground where they castigated Governor Nathif Jama’s administration saying it is full of corruption.
“For the last two years, the county government received about Sh30 billion but it’s unfortunate that no tangible project has been undertaken…,” said Mr Korane.
Mr Duale. While exuding confidence he will emerge victorious, said Mr Korane would end corruption at the county if elected Governor.
He also used the chance to drum up support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
“After four years of Jubilee, now our mothers can deliver free in hospital, you have seen we launched Standard Gauge Railway, we have built roads and also helped in waver of examinations fees,” said Mr Duale.
