The High Court in Mombasa has directed the DPP to charge Lamu West MP Julius Ndegwa with fraud. Mr Ndegwa faces 10 counts of swindling a businessman of Sh4 million.

Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony ruled that Ndegwa should appear before the magistrate’s court on Monday to answer to the charges.

“A plea is a process where an accused person pleads guilty or not. I do not think the suspect will suffer any prejudice if he is charged. I decline to grant the stay order,” said Judge Chepkwony.
