Governor Tolgos says he will hire afresh top county executives in Elgeyo Marakwet

Governor Alex Tolgos of Elgeyo Marakwet yesterday said he will carry out fresh recruitment of all senior staff, including executives.

He said he will advertise all positions and those interested are welcome to apply, including the current staff.

“We will then pick the most qualified to work for the people of Elgeyo Marakwet,” Tolgos said at his office in Iten town.

He who will be sworn in next week.

Before the election Tolgos dropped his deputy Gabriel Lamaon and picked Wesley Rotich.

He has ordered the budget for the swearing-in ceremony cut from Sh15 million to Sh2 million.

“Our county has serious needs and that extra cash will be channelled to better use for the benefit of our people,” Tolgos said.

In Nandi, Governor elect Stephen Sang has rejected a budget of Sh30 million for new cars and his swearing in.

Instead of breakfast at a high-end hotel on Monday after his swearing-in, Sang will join students at Kapsabet Boys High School.

Sang said the money saved will be used to buy medicine and hospital supplies.
