Governor Kinuthia Mbugua now wants the county categorised among devolved units facing drought.

Mr Mbugua termed the situation “dire”, adding that it required concerted efforts from both the national and county governments to deal with the situation.

He said several areas regarded as the bread basket of the populous county had been highly hit by drought.

“Many parts especially in Naivasha are feeling the impact of the drought and we appeal for help,” he said.

Mbugua was speaking at the weekend when he visited more than 100 families whose houses were razed by fire in Ngondi village, Naivasha.
