Hours after IEBC Commissioner, Roselyne Akombe, resigned from the commission due to the agency’s lack of preparedness to hold free, fair and credible repeat Presidential elections on October 26th, it has now emerged that many staff at the commission may follow suit.
This was revealed by Akombe during an interview via Skype from New York where she sought refuge from poachers of men back home.
Akombe revealed that most of the staff at IEBC have congratulated her for the bold move she took by resigning from the commission and save her soul rather than preside over another flawed election.
She noted that the IEBC staff have called her and thanked her for speaking for them by telling the whole world about the rot in the Kenyan electoral system.
“A number of staff at IEBC have called to congratulate me for resigning and being on the right side of history.”
“Many have said they were too afraid to speak,” Akombe said.
