Boda boda thief set ablaze as accomplices escape

A man was killed by a mob after he was caught stealing a motorcycle in Athi, Igembe South, Meru County.  According to witnesses, the man was in the company of two accomplices when they turned against a boda boda operator who they had hired.

“The three men accosted the rider once they reached a secluded area on the Maua-Mikinduri road. They attacked him and tried to steal the motorcycle, but people who were passing by the raised alarm,” said the witness.

Two suspects ran away but but their accomplice was cornered and beaten before his body was set ablaze. The owner of the motorcycle suffered stabbing injuries.
