Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Wednesday was freed on a bond of Sh500,000 but minutes after exiting the court Owino was Dramatically Re-arrested
Owino is fearing for his life as Police have taken him to an unknown location. He told KDRTV.com on Facebook that, “I have been transferred from Pangani police station to unknown location. There are plans to inject me with mercury. They can kill my body but my revolutionary spirit, ideas, and dreams will never die. #NoReformsNoElections
Owino was represented by Siaya Senator James Orengo and freed on a Sh500,000 bond and two sureties worth Sh1 million each.
Presiding over the case, the Magistrate Francis Andayi noted that Babu was not a flight risk and there was no compelling reasons to hold him.
“There is no compelling reason to warrant denial of bail. The right of an accused person to be released on bond is enshrined in the constitution and must be respected.
“I am satisfied the accused should be released on bond. He will be released on bail and deposit two sureties of Sh1 million each for examination by the court.” the Magistrate said.
