ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to receive Elizabeth Ongoro

Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro is headed to Musalia Mudvadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) party after being barred by Raila Odinga’s ODM from vying in Ruaraka.

Ms Ongoro, the fiery senator nominated on an ODM ticket, was on Thursday fined Sh1 million and barred from vying against Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang’ on what the party said was indiscipline.

She and her supporters had stormed Orange House to protest what she said was a plan to hand Mr Kajwang a direct ticket.

ANC Secretary-General Godfrey Osotsi told the Nation Friday morning that Ms Ongoro will be received by Mr Mudavadi at the party headquarters in Lavington, Naiorbi.

“She is our member and will vie in Ruaraka,” said Mr Osotsi.

However, it is not clear whether, legally, Ms Ongoro can defect to another party after IEBC gazetted a list of aspirants from all political parties.

Ms Ongoro is on the list of ODM aspirants released by the electoral commission on Thursday.

In law, no one can change parties after the gazettement of aspirants.
