Woman, son face charges after illegally burying husband

A woman from Makueni county will on Monday be charged in a Mombasa court with illegally burying her husband.

Mbooni East police boss Peter Njeru said Jane Mbula and her son John Mutua were arrested at their rural home on Thursday.

The two were seized at Kyala village in Kiteta location and handed over to officers at Makupa police station in Mombasa.

Njeru said the family of the deceased, who was married to two wives, had been restrained from burying the body pending a court case.

“The two discretely collected the body from Coast General Hospital and proceeded to bury it at their rural home on Tuesday last week.”

Jackson Kisangani, 72, died on December 6, 2016, due to sickness and advanced age.

His remains were preserved at the hospital mortuary pending the court case to determine where he should be buried.

This was after his two wives differed on the burial site.

An arrest warrant is out for Coast General Hospital mortuary attendants and administrators.

They are wanted for contempt of court.
