Viva my husband, Msando’s wife cries as he is laid to rest

“Viva Chris Msando, viva, viva, rest in peace my husband,” these were the words Eva Buyu, the widow of the IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando, uttered as they laid him to rest at their Lifunga home in Ugenya constituency, Siaya County on Saturday.

In her glowing tribute to the late husband, Eva said Msando loved and cherished his family.

A somber mood engulfed the quiet village as hundreds of mourners thronged their home to witness the sendoff of the man who is believed to have had the critical password to the secret servers of the electoral commission.

Eva said the killers of her husband might be on the run but will not hide forever.

She said it is just a matter of time before the killers are caught.

“I have peace today not because there are no storms but because the lord is my peace in the midst of them all. Let Chris rest but he will only rest in peace when we see the mark the Lord put on Kenya,” she said.

She added: “Kenyans it is very painful but it is just a matter of time, justice will someday prevail. Rest at peace my husband.”

NASA leader Raila Odinga said it is painful for such young children to be rendered fatherless by merciless killers.

He said it is heartbreaking for Msando’s children to keep demanding to know those who killed their father and why, when a government he served cannot provide answers.

“The killers of Msando are known and the reason why he was killed is well known too. The issue is not whether they are known or not,” Raila said.

The NASA leader said government mercenaries are behind Msando’s death adding that there is no need for investigations.

“We maintain that there is no need for investigations because you cannot have the killers themselves conduct the said investigations,” he said.

Earlier on Ugenya youths mounted roadblocks on all major roads leading to the venue of Chris Msando’s funeral service.

The group said they are angered that the two electoral agency officials betrayed the late ICT manager and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

“We are going to search all vehicles heading to the funeral. If we meet the two, we will force them to go back to Nairobi,” one of them said.

They vowed to chase the top IEBC officials away in case they bump into them anywhere in the funeral or within Ugenya constituency.
