A Mt Kenya University student was stabbed to death in unclear circumstances and his body left on the road in Parklands area, Nairobi.

Police say they found the body of Maxwel Kariuki at the junction of Limuru Road and Prof Wangari Mathai Road with stab wounds in the chest and it is not clear how he was killed.

Another man who was rushed to MP Shah Hospital with similar wounds is under investigation to establish if he was behind it.

Preliminary findings show the two may have been attacked in a matatu they were riding in before being thrown out.

Police who rushed to the scene where the body of Kariuki was said they did not recover anything from him. Kariuki was a fourth year law student at the university.

Cases of stabbing are on the rise in the city. Police say thugs use the means to coerce and instill fear.

Last week, three people were stabbed to death in an attack in Umoja area. The killers are yet to be arrested and efforts to track them are ongoing.
