A Standard Chartered Bank manager and an employee of the National Bank of Kenya were on Wednesday charged with stealing Sh163 million from Ecobank. Peter Gathaiya and Roy Njira denied the charges before Magistrate Miriam Mugure in Nairobi on Tuesday.

The court heard that the two, with others not in court, conspired to steal the money on diverse dates between March 26, 2015, and September 18, 2015, at Ecobank’s head office in Nairobi.
