Turkana residents raise queries over abandoned IEBC ballot box

Residents have raised questions over an IEBC ballot box found abandoned on Wednesday in Napelilim on Kakuma-Lodwar highway.

A witness said the box fell out of a speeding lorry heading to Lodwar town.

He said it was damaged on the lower part and that ballot papers may have slipped out of the opening.

Many questioned why the electoral commission and security agents could not safely handle the item.

The speculation follows Turkana governor candidate John Munyes’ complaints on the August 8 general election.

Munyes has accused IEBC of manipulating results in favour of winner and incumbent Josphat Nanok.
