Evergreen batsman, Gurdeep Singh on Sunday knocked a scintillating century to lead Sikh Union to a 90 runs victory over Sir Ali Muslim Club in a Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association Super League match at Sikh Union.
Gurdeep’s 102 runs came off 112 deliveries with eight fours and a six.
Gurdeep top scored for his team that batted first setting a target of 127 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Paramveer Singh (42), Sukhdeep Singh (35) and Abdul Rehman (33) were there other batsmen who posted meaningful figures on the scoreboard.
Mujib Ashraf (2/52) was Sir Ali’s main wicket taker.
James Butatila (1/15) and Aman Gandhi (1/20) were the other Sir Ali bowlers who did well with the ball.
In reply, Sir Ali only managed to put on 185 runs by the time all their batsmen were sent back to the pavilion with four balls in hand.
Ken Owino (37) was Sir Ali’s main scorer.
Thomas Odoyo, who is also the Kenya coach got 34 and Aman Gandhi (26) were the other Sir Ali batsmen who did well with the bat.
Pratik Chhallare was Sir Ali’s main executioner taking four wickets for 17. He was supported by Joseph Owino (3/15).
At the Nairobi Jaffreys ground, home team Swamibapa beat Nairobi Gymkhana by two wickets.
Gymkhana batted first and set a target of 181 all out with 28 balls in hand.
Both Rushabh Patel (56 off 65 balls with six four) and Siddarthasinh Vijaysinh (54 off 70 balls with eight fours) knocking half tons.
Harshvardhan Patel (18) was the only other batsman who contributed meaningful runs for the side.
Katukala was Swamibapa’s main wicket taker with three for 25. Jadavji Bhimji (2/31) and Emmanuel Bundi (1/25) were the other bowlers who did well with the ball.
