Police recover Sh8m stolen medicine

Police have recovered 300 cartons of pharmaceutical drugs worth Sh8 million stolen on Mombasa-Nairobi highway early this month.

The boxes of assorted medicine were found at a warehouse in Miritini.

Coast Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Pius Macharia said the drugs were found on Wednesday night following a tip off.

“The goods were on transit from Mombasa to Nairobi when the driver, who was transporting them, was attacked at Taru area,” Mr Macharia said.

A report was made at Maungu police station on February 1 and investigations started.

He said the drugs had been imported from India and were being transported to Nairobi.

Mr Macharia said no suspect has been arrested over the theft.
