President Uhuru Kenyatta has travelled to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Paul Kagame.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta. They left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly before 9:00 am.
Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Chief of Defence Forces, General Samson Mwathethe led other senior government officials in seeing off the Head of State.
President Kagame was re-elected to a third term with over 99 percent% of the votes cast in elections held on August 4.
President Uhuru is attending the inauguration ceremony to show Kenya’s solidarity with the people of Rwanda, and their government.
In his congratulatory message, President Uhuru said the re-election of President Kagame renews friendship and alliance between the two countries and that he looks forward to working together on matters of regional security, regional integration, and infrastructure.
