Nairobi governor candidates to face-off in debate

Candidate eyeing the Nairobi Governor’s seat are set to face-off on Thursday in a heated debate hosted by the Kenya Alliance of the Residential Association (Kara).

Candidates who have confirmed participation are incumbent Evans Kidero, Senator Mike Sonko, Michael Mutinda (Agano Party), Godfrey Wanyoike (Independent) and Miguna Miguna (Independent).

Mr Peter Kenneth, also an Independent candidate, is yet to confirm although his team has hinted he would participate.

Kara programmes manager Nancy Kariuki has allayed fears that the aspirants would engage in a verbal tussle during the debate.

VISION

Ms Kariuki said that they have adequately prepared the candidates and briefed them on the modalities and the guidelines.

“We are not expecting any chaos as the leaders will be tomorrow morning coached on how to conduct the debate in a civilised manner,” said Ms Kariuki.

According to her, the debate is meant to put to task the leaders on their vision for the people of Nairobi should they be elected.

The debate is set to begin at 8.30am to 11.30am at the Crowne Plaza Hotel where members will enter for free while non-members will pay Sh2000.
