Mathari Mental Hospital, Nairobi

Police have launched a manhunt for mentally ill patients who escaped from Mathari Mental Hospital in Nairobi.  They were allegedly freed by the striking nurses demanding for the implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The nurses strike has been going on for over ten days.

Police say some of them are armed with stones. They have warned the public as the patients are capable of attacking innocent passersby along Thika Road.

About 20 have so far been taken back to the hospital.
