According to the girl’s father Jacob Orende, the family had just taken super and was preparing to sleep at around 9pm when the criminal came.

“My 10-year-old daughter was leaving the main house to the kitchen and when she stepped outside, she met a man who ordered her to go back to the house. She came back, trembling, saying there was someone on the corridor,” said Mr Orende.

“It was the shock of my life. We tried to pursue him but he disappeared into the darkness,” said the long distance truck driver. They later found four bullets outside the house.

Police said the firearm was stolen from an Administration Police officer in 2015, and they have been trying to trace the criminals who snatched it. County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed said police have launched investigations into the incident and hope to arrest the suspect soon.

“This was an act of bravery from the family, and we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that the culprit is brought to book,” he said.
