Residents of a slum in Jomvu constituency are living in fear following threats of eviction.

Uhuru Owino village elder Alfred Ogala claimed that he no longer sleeps in his house after a gang threatened him following his pursuit of compensation for pollution and laying claim to the land where he says he has lived for nearly 30 years.

The residents have reported the matter to Changamwe police station and an investigation has begun. Yesterday, Jomvu MP Badi Twalib joined residents in calling for police protection to ensure that those threatened return to their homes.
