Chaotic scenes paint Kisii Jubilee polls

Chaos broke out at a Tallying centre in Kisii during the Jubilee Party primaries after the returning officer announced results for Bomorenda Ward.

Chaotic scenes were witnessed at Itierio Tallying Centre after George Kerima was declared Bomorenda Ward Jubilee ticket winner.

Aggrieved supporters of his rival, Darius Mosoti, protested the announcement, saying their candidate’s total tally which would have guaranteed him the victory had not been announced.

County Jubilee Party chairman Sam Nyairo addressed participants in the tallying centre hall as he tried to cool down tempers with police officers being forced to intervene and suspended the tallying of the votes.

Calm was later restored after the angry supporters were ejected from the hall.
