The Amani National Congress (ANC) party primaries begin in Busia County amid claims of voter importation by some aspirants.

Party Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi has emphasised the exercise will be free, fair and credible.

He said only those in the party membership register would be allowed to vote.

An aspirant eyeing the Butula parliamentary seat Mary Makokha recorded a statement at Bumala Police Station over claims that her competitor planned to ferry voters from outside the constituency.

Butula Deputy County Commissioner Bosek Lagat warned aspirants against importing voters. He said it was against the law and anyone found doing it would be arrested and prosecuted.
